Keep your Tassels fresh and looking good and long lasting
When you receive your package
Your tassels may be bent and out of shape from the shipping transit and packaging. No problem. You can smooth them out with your hands, causing a warm friction in your palms to flatten any bent cords.
If that is not good enough and you want them more freshened and crisper, you can steam iron the kinks and wrinkles out anytime you wish to freshen them up. They are 100% cotton, or 100% Linen and the iron can be on the highest steam setting for linen or cotton.
Washing
I have left my tassels on garments and put through the wash with no problem but a little tangling. Machine washing will wear them out faster. You can use air drying for a few hours to dry out the tassels after washing. Hang them on a hanger or lay them out in the sun on a towel in a warm spot for faster drying.
The best way is to hand wash with a small amount of laundry detergent and let air dry.
Trimming
After wearing for a while and after a few washes, your tassels may look really worn out and frayed at the end cascading tassel cords. This can be resolved by trimming the frayed ends with scissors. Yes, this will shorten them slightly depending on how much you snip off. But they will look fresh and almost new again.
I have trimmed one of my expensive sets down to about an inch after wearing and washing for years.
You’ll know when to stop trimming and buy a new set.
